Our martial arts cinema block concludes (for now) with the two films that comprise Gareth Evans' bravura Indonesian crime saga. We dive into the many reasons the Raid movies are a cut above not just other martial arts films, but also many crime films as well. Plus, we look at the genesis of each installment, the unique elements of both, the extremely experimental filmmaking techniques, and of course, all the bone-snapping, eye-popping action of Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruihan, Cecep Arif Rahman, etc.
